Age 7-8
This level of soccer emphasizes skill development, personal growth and fun. Basic soccer techniques are developed as well as introducing team skills. Teams will have between 4 and 5 players on a lined field playing in shifts and teams will be made up of approximately 10 players. Games are played on a full mini soccer field.
Caregivers are required to remain in attendance for the duration of the field time. This ensures the safety of the player in a medical emergency or a weather-related cancellation.
Uniform
- All players are provided with a Timbits jersey for the season that must be returned at the end of the season.
- Shin guards are MANDATORY for each session for ALL players. Players will not be permitted to play without shin guards.
- Soccer shoes, socks and shorts are recommended for this age
- Players are asked to not wear jewelry on the field.
- Players should bring a water bottle to each session in a non-glass container.
Season Information
- The mini soccer season begins May 1st (dependent on field conditions) and runs for 8 weeks ending June 26th.
- Teams will have two weekday evening field times.
- All sessions run from 7 pm to 8:00 pm
- No field times on Victoria Day (May 20).
- The fields are located throughout the neighborhoods in the community with the main sites located at SWCC-Waverley Heights, Prairie Sunrise School Bridgewater Park and Kirkbridge Park. Fields are subject to change and are based on the number of participants and coaches. Players may end up playing at any of the fields within the South Winnipeg area regardless of where they live. Players in this age category will rotate around to different fields in SW.
- Teams are gender split into boys and girls teams.
- Participation medals will be presented at the end of the year.
- A Community Center Jamboree carnival is anticipated in mid June. Further details will be provided closer to that time.
- Option photos are scheduled for mid May. The cost of photos is not included in registration fees.
